We think you will like these features and functions in CERF. 

  1. This GUI has three main panels
  • Left panel: Document Tree, Checked Out Documents, Local Files, Bookmarks, Saved Searches
  • Middle panel: Inbox/Email, Controlled Documents, Notebook, Notifications, Search
  • Right panel: Info
  1. Notebook Entry Types
  • Audio File -  creates Entries from existing audio files or record and save as a new Entry.
  • Mind-Map - uses installed mind-mapping software to create an Entry
  • Drawing - drawing tools for free-hand drawing Entries
  1. Inbox, Email - users can email content and attachments to CERF through regular email
  2. Saved Searches - there is a default collection called "saved searches." This is a new pane that can be displayed in the left panel
  3. Network file links
  4. Logging user 'admin' actions - audit trail
  5. Advanced Tagging - any resource can be tagged with a combination of text/user-created vocabulary terms

  • General: Double-click action - System Default, Checkout, or View

        1. Signing initiator can sign Notebook Page that has multiple contributors and co-contributors will get notifications to cosign or cancel/reject
        2. Users can finalize all their work on a Page, Section, or Notebook, allowing main contributor to initiate signing on a Notebook Page that has multiple contributors.
        3. Signer can add new signature group at the time of cosigning.
          1. Edit Metadata inline - user can edit and save metadata within the metadata pane of the right-hand Info panel.
          2. Filter and add members of another workgroup to current workgroup in the Edit Workgroup dialog.
          3. The Workgroup Administrator can change the role and admin status of multiple users in a workgroup simultaneously (to the same role or admin status) in the Java client (in the Edit Workgroup dialog).
          4.  MS Word and MS Excel are automatically displayed inline and rendered as PDF (there is usually no need to change display type).  In cases such as invoking a template, when documents are displayed as links, there is now a "Show All Inline" action in the Notebook menu.
          5. There are hot keys to Show/Hide the side panels and other hot keys for the main menu items
          6. There is a dictionary "as you type" spellchecker in the Notebook text editor
          7. Metadata are automatically extracted from MS Office documents and images
          8. There is a new business policy for auto-logoff time setting
          9. The user can copy more than one Notebook Entry at a time and paste them into another Notebook
          10. The user can drag more than one document at a time from a File Cabinet to a Notebook
          11. Deleted, Inactivated, and Archived items in File Cabinets will disappear from view immediately
          12. JChem Viewer, text entry has been added (resizing entries)
          13. The System Administrator can grant users the ability to create new Workgroups or manage (create/edit) controlled vocabularies that other users may access as well as grant users the capability to grant capabilities to other users.
          •     A new business policy System_Manage_Capabilities_Allowed must be set to True for System Admin to grant Users permission to create Workgroups or create/edit controlled vocabularies.  Other new business policies are described in the System Admin online manual.
        1. The person who initiates a Controlled Document can add members from another workgroup (to which they belong). These users are also members of the workgroup that owns the controlled document.
        2. The printout of a resource that has been struck out will display an X on the text or image. The printout of a resource page, Page, section, or Notebook will show an X through any struckout text or images.
        3. In addition to PDF printed copies of Notebook resources, PDF printed copies can be created from files in a File Cabinet.
        4. New labels are used for source and destination relations in CERF.
        5. CERF displays signatures on printed copies of signed Notebook resources (the user doesn't need to select specific templates with signature printing).
        6. If a Notebook Page has multiple Entries that are shown as links, these can be changed simultaneously to inline views with the "Show All Inline" action, located in the right-click Notebook menu.
